1. Quality teaching is presenting content and differentiating so that all students are successful. The use of hands-on activities, manipulatives, numbered heads together, think-pair-share, etc. to fully engage students (12 brain rules) is critical.

2. The home-school connection is something we do well in ESL. When a student is having problems at home, it affects their learning. We know our students well enough to be able to sit down with them and ask questions about what's going on. It takes a lot of time to help students adjust to American high school.

We also work hard to engage students regardless of their level (see strategies in #1). These are strategies that can apply for all students.

3. We're interested learning more about the 12 Brain Rules that Denny Cullinan briefly presented.
